Today game trailers are like movie trailers. They have improved so much in their tone, feel and title graphicsthat they look similarlike movie trailers.

As game trailers are the deciding factor for the popularity ofthe game, expectations from themare quite huge. As the expectations get higher it becomes really challenging for the creatorsto create them. The time for animation is normally aroundthree weeks tocreate a 2minute long trailer. The budget of the animatorsis quite stretched. Low polygon models are animated to become visual extravaganzas.

Though the game trailers are trying to imitate movie trailers, there isa lot of difference in the making of the two trailers. A movie trailer ismade after the movie is almost or completely finished. However, in case of these game trailers, an unfinished game is given, and the makers have to playthe game, understand every single aspect of the game and then make the trailer of the game. The makers becomelike directors, and theycreate sort of an entire new movie. Making trailers ofthe game is quite difficult. There is very little time and too much todo.

The games are madeeven before the game is nowhere near completionso the game developers and animators have to work really hard. They have to apply every trick theyknow in order to make the thing look better than it actually is. Somecompanies start making the trailers even when the game isin the very first stage.

If there are a lot of characters in the game trailers, it becomes quite difficult to individualize all ofthem in a short time. Normally, the developers create morph targets, whichwill help to create expressions on their faces. Another easy way to deal with this situation is touse a disguise kit. This is a short cut where the base head with all its expressions is saved but the basic shape of the face can be changed by adding the hair, mustaches, beard, changing the skin color, etc.

Thus itcan be said that game trailers, though they are like mini movies, they are quite hard to make the movie trailers.
