When a member of your family dies, the first thing that may come to your mind is to let other family members and friends know of the death. Naturally, you would want them to be present during the memorial service and burial. Besides, nothing beats the feeling of having family and friends near to comfort you during your time of sorrow.

In order to notify family and friends who might be living far from where you are, it would be best to send out a funeral notice. You can prepare a funeral announcement complete with all details pertaining to the death, the funeral service and the interment. A funeral announcement reaches a wider spectrum of people who might want to sympathize with you and your family and not just your close circle of friends and immediate family.

You can send the funeral announcement by snail mail, e-mail or have it printed on the newspaper, in the obituaries section. You also need to use a well-prepared funeral announcement template to make sure that you don't miss including any vital information.

So how can you format a funeral announcement template before you have it sent out to family and friends or printed on the newspaper? First off, you must make sure that the personal information of the deceased appears foremost in the announcement. Next, you can include a short backgrounder about the deceased. After that you can list down the names of the surviving family members taking note that it must be the names of the immediate family members only like spouse, parents and children's names. Lastly, don't forget to mention where the remains lie in state, when the memorial service will take place and where the remains will be buried.
