Some Best Dog Accessories to Keep Them Healthy and FitWrittenBy:General
Written By:David Slone Once the cat begins to use the carpet, he or she may develop a habit and think it is ok to keep using the area. There are dozens of pet odor eliminators and so-called pet deterrents on the market today. Truth be told, you can remove cat urine from carpet using some common items you already have on hand. The first step when cleaning up cat urine is to completely blot up the stain with clean towels or a cloth. Apply as much pressure as you can by stepping on the cloth to get up as much of the moisture as possible. The second step is to thoroughly soak the stain with a solution comprised of fifty percent white vinegar and fifty percent water. Vinegar works to neutralize the ammonia smell of the urine. Allow the solution to soak deep into the carpet and let it dry for a couple of hours. Once it has mostly dried, blot the area with clean towels or vacuum with a wet-dry vac. The third step for treating cat urine in carpet is to sprinkle a fairly large amount of baking soda onto the stain to further help neutralize the odor. Then, mix one-quarter cup of three percent hydrogen peroxide with 1 teaspoon of mild dishwashing liquid. Drizzle this mixture over the baking soda and scrub the area with a study scrub brush. Once the baking soda has completely dried, vacuum the entire area. If the stain or the smell is not completely gone, repeat the above steps until you are happy with the results. Always test the above materials a small, inconspicuous area prior to using them to remove cat urine from carpet. My wife and I have a cat that used to be a bit of a sneaky leaker.
