Written By:John Odie If you want a holiday where you will experience some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world, as well as exploring a rich diversity of cultures then Brazil holidays may be just the destination you are looking for. On a Brazil holiday you can explore the Amazon Rainforest, enjoy some of the most beautiful beaches, discover the architecture and artefacts of the rich Brazilian culture, and much more. The Brazilian culture is primarily Portuguese though it has also benefited from indigenous, African and other European influences. The cuisine varies from region to region. In the north the food is quite similar to that of India, whist in the north-east seafood, shellfish and fruit are staples. In the central west and the south-east you will find fish and beef served with soya bean and rice, whilst further south, sun and salt dried meats are popular. With around a third of the worlds' animal species living there, visiting the Amazon Rainforest and taking an Amazon River cruise is something that everybody should do on a Brazil holiday. A popular embarkation point for these cruises is Manaus, which is itself an exciting and colourful port. The Amazon, which arguably is the world's largest river, varies in width considerably; in some places it is over thirty miles wide. Many of the boats that do the cruise are quite luxurious with air conditioned cabins. These boats are designed with narrow draughts so that they are able to navigate the more remote sections of the river and its tributaries where you will experience the most diverse collection of flora and fauna in the world. You will also enjoy the opportunity to meet the local tribesmen who live around the river. Alternatively you could decide to visit the Pantanal and Bonito during your Brazil holiday. It is the largest wetland in the world, lying mainly in southern Brazil. This is another natural nature reserve where you will discover vast waterscapes containing spectacular waterfalls, lakes and exciting caves and is home to thousands of different species of plants, birds, reptiles, invertebrates, fish and mammals. Regardless of the nature experience you choose on your Brazil holiday, part of your tailor-made Brazil tour will be spent in Rio de Janeiro. Take your time visiting the iconic beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema, pay a visit to the ancient city of Salvador or take a trip to the romantic paradise of the Marau Peninsula. There is so much choice, so much to do and so many wonders that it will take your breath away. This article was written by Graham Pringle who is an authority on |
